La Matriarche - The Warrior

After 3 long years of hard work, ups and downs blood, sweat and tears my studies at the NAD university has finally come to an end. With this, I had the privilege to work with my closest friends on our last project together to deliver the 2min cinematic ''La Matriarche''. As a future character artist I was tasked on creating the main character for this cinematic, The warrior.

This was in total a 6 month endeavor that was split in two semesters the first one being 3 months of preproduction, meaning we had to come up with a proof of concept for our project and from there start doing iterations to see how much potential our production would have. During that phase, I mainly worked on finding references and concepts on which we could use to create our character. We were lucky to get the help of the wonderful Virginie Juteau who was able to help us on that concept creation phase ! Once that step completed my team and I worked on a preliminary blocking to get the general aesthetic of our cinematic and from there we started working on the second phase of our project which was this semester, the production phase.

During this phase we've had the help of mentors from the industry to push our concepts to their full potential ! I was lucky to have Léo Ferland-L'Abbé to guide me through this process and It was an absolute blast and honor to get his feedback ! This project was also tons of fun and also allowed me to test out new technologies such as the Metahuman creator ! A powerful tool if you get to break it as much as possible lol.

With this project I've been able put my heart and soul into it, 3 big months and lots of 5am sleeps but this was all worth it it was an absolute blast to work with my friends and to get the result we wanted ! Hope you all like it !
